Twin meals and kid dinner/grown up dinner

So, I've been doing some kid meal updates the last couple weeks, but I've decided to do something a little different. The babes' breakfast and lunch is pretty much variations on the same theme, but as far as dinner is concerned, I've decided to model their dinners after our dinners so that it will be 1) easier than making two different meals 2) keep me on track meal-wise and 3) get them on the same track with us so that they can transition to what we're eating easier in the future.
So, in light of this, here's what they've been eating for breakfast--

Top: eggs, peaches, maple toast; bottom: eggs, banana, orange segments

Here's a typical lunch--

Top: toasted cheese sandwich, banana; bottom: peanut butter and honey sandwich, banana chips, grapes

For dinner the last few days the boys have tried a few new things, here's what we had for dinner:

Kid dinner: salmon burger, Apple, sautéed chickpeas and kale; Adult dinner: salmon burger with pan fried capers and sautéed chickpeas w/ kale

Recipe here: http://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/slow-cooked-salmon-chickpeas-and-greens I didn't make the salmon as directed, I baked salmon burgers and then pan finished them (it's what we had! :)) but everything else I made as directed. Delish!

Kid dinner: pasta w/ butter, banana slices, peas and corn; Adult dinner: sautéed scallops and veggies w/ Thai noodles

Recipe here: Thai noodles-- http://www.melskitchencafe.com/super-simple-spicy-thai-noodles/  (no toppings or veggies, just noodles and the sauce)
Scallops-- http://allrecipes.com/recipe/pan-seared-scallops-with-pepper-and-onions-in-anchovy-oil/detail.aspx (I used white onions, and no red bell pepper, I also used sardines instead of anchovies. Finally, I replaced parsley with cilantro and added sesame seeds)

Kid dinner: baked chicken, sweet potatoes and peas; Adult dinner: baked drumsticks, baked broccoli w/ Parmesan and baked sweet potato w/ garlic and Parmesan.

Kid dinner: cheese quesadilla, apples, peas; Adult dinner: cheese quesadilla w/ pica de gallo and beans w/ Spanish rice

Rice-- http://whatyagotcookingoodlookin.blogspot.com/2011/10/restraunt-style-mexican-rice.html (I used tomatoes instead of sauce, and added cilantro)

Where we're at this Wednesday

The boys had their 12 month check up today (a bit late, I know!) they are in the 50+ percentile for their real age (23.77 lbs and 23.20 lbs Hunter and Finn, respectively). Not too bad for a couple of (almost) 32 week-ers!

The boys are feeding themselves exclusively now, with the exception of soup and yogurt. Here's a sample of what they ate this week:

T-B: spaghetti with veggies and cheese, eggplant pizza with grapes and spinach w/ oil/vinegar and pine nuts, peanut butter and honey sandwiches with banana chips and apples, spaghetti and cheesy meatballs and apples, Cheerios and apple juice 4eva!

Twin meals

Ok, so instead of doing the craft project I've been thinking about, I binged watched Empire. (love!)
The boys are eating so much now! They are essentially sharing adult portions now. Here's a sampling of this week's meals:

Turkey sammies, banana chips, plums; bananas, grapefruit, cheesy eggs; veggies, cheese sticks, plums; mushroom chicken rice soup; lots and lots of Cheerios!

We didn't go to gymboree today because Hunter still has a bit of a cough. I got some work done in the garden, the box is filled and I'm going to get the seeds started hopefully tomorrow. Yay!

What day is it??

Happy hump day everyone! I've been so mixed up schedule wise this week! I missed the boys' wellness visit yesterday (DUH!) but was able to reschedule it so it was ok.
We're still down one car, and Dave needed the other one, so we weren't able to go to gymboree this week. We were going to try a level 3 class, so we're going to try for next week.
The boys have tried a few new things, here's a sample of their meals this week:

Bananas, rice cake, cheese and avocado; quesadilla with avocado and bell pepper and plums; peanut butter and honey sammies with grapes and apple juice; turkey sammies (with honey mustard and cheddar), plums and banana chips; spaghetti

Both of the boys are really scooting around army crawl style and Hunter is pulling up on everything!

Finn's starting to go for it too!

Wrapping up some busy weeks

We've had a dozen or so very busy days over here. I ended up picking up some more shifts at work and worked 10/11 days last week and, while I'm definitely not complaining, I'm glad to be able to (hopefully) regain a sense of normality so I can get a handle on things and get them moving forward again. I only have 3 days off this week, but should be back to 3 on, 4 off by next week. It's funny how being pregnant catylized things forward so rapidly, that I feel like a slacker now that things have begun to normalize, over a year later! I really want to get back in to school, but I'm still a little clueless on how to go about it. When I was last in school on a regular basis, hardly anyone had a laptop or a cell phone, and a tablet was something more associated with the 10 commandments than computer devices. I know I need to just try to let it all go, and dive in, but I'm feeling a little intimidated still and I'm not quite there yet, as much as I hate to admit it.

As busy as this week has been, I wasn't able to document the boys' eats as much this week, but here's a sampling:

Peaches, corn, peas and rice cakes

Eggs, maple toast and blueberries

I also tried a new recipe, and it turned out really good!

Balsamic strawberry mint chicken, roasted red potatoes and salad

(I replaced the basil with mint because I didn't have any fresh basil.... I felt like it worked though!)

Twin meals and play dates

I'm working a bunch of extra shifts this week, so our schedule is all wonky this week. The boys have tried a bunch of new foods, and are completely feeding themselves. They are still getting formula at night but only until the formula is gone. They have a small milk bottle after their meals, usually. Here's a sampling of what the boys ate this week....

Lettuce, avocado, tomato, ham, Swiss, Apple

Cheerios, rasberries, and banana

Strawberries, veggie mix, and colcannon

Tortilla chips, black beans, and veggie mix

Yummmmmm!
We also had a super fun play date with our friends Vira and Deven and our good buddy Ava!
Deven and Vira brought presents and cupcakes for a belated birthday celebration!

Clap clap clap!!

Showing off our sunnies from Auntie Alice, cool dudes!

Thank you, friends!!

Twin eats/craft day (a day late)

The twins are eating all solids now, and are making the transition to cows milk. They get a 4 oz bottle after every meal, and formula at night. They're only waking up 1-2 times at night and usually only want a bottle once. Here's a sampling of this week's meals:

Chicken, cheese, carrots, peas and potato

Cheesy eggs and maple toast

Chick peas, cheese, naan

Naan cheese and spinach 'pizza', Apple

Cheesy eggs, toast, plums

Avocado, Cheerios, bananas

Chicken, carrots, apples

Mac and cheese, peas, carrots

These two little chuckleheads napped through gymboree time, so we'll probably try again on Friday.

didn't get to a craft yesterday, but I did do one this evening.  I made coasters for Christmas presents this year, and I decided to make some for us too!
